Sunflower

Sunflower is an annual plant, a representative of the Astrope family. Scientists consider the native land of the plant to be North America. The Latin name of a sunflower sounds like Helianthus, which means "sun flower". The leaves and flowers of this plant are considered heliotrope, that is, they bend towards the sun.

Sunflower- unpretentious drought-resistant plant, well tolerates spring frosts.

The plant prefers fertile soil, it is not recommended to plant a sunflower on acidic or saline soil. The plant should not be planted on the place where legumes, beets, tomatoes grew.

Sunflower grows well after corn, grain crops.

It is not recommended to plant it in the same place, it is better to take a break 3-4 years. This is due to the fact that the plant consumes a lot of nutrients, draining the soil.

The fruit of a sunflower is an elongated tetrahedral or laterally compressed seed consisting of a pericarp (peel, or husk) and a white seed (kernel) covered with a seed coat. In the pericarp of modern sunflower varieties between the sclerenchyma and cork tissue there is a shell layer, due to which the achenes are not damaged by sunflower fire.

100 grams of kernels of fried sunflower seeds contain about 20.7 g of proteins, 3.4 g of carbohydrates and 52.9 g of fats.
